Is this Motorcycle Prejudiced against Bikers in this simple new report / press release?

I ask that Bikers everywhere show their displeasure by tweeting, like and sharing this around so we can be seen across the social networks.

I just hate this kind of lazy and prejudiced in news reports, that more often than not are simply posting a Police press release without so much as a single question from the journalist concerned. While I can only guess that this is the case with this article. Either way I know I am offended by it’s prejudiced definition of “motorcyclists“. I wonder when it will be that we will read the headline “100 “MOTORISTS” charged in police crackdown on dangerous behaviour“? It appears to me that when in cars they are thugs, youths, gangs, or criminals but if they are on motorbikes they are “motorcyclists” or bikers.

I have to wonder how many of these people were, (what you, me and the general public would recognise as) “motorcyclists” and how many of them where teenage kids on knackered old scooters and stolen motorbikes?

This is both prejudice and offensive reporting and makes my blood boil, no wonder some people don’t like us (“bikers“, “motorcycle riders“) or fear us when reading reports written in this way. It should read “more than 100 criminals with scooters and stolen motorcycles charged in . . .”! To top it all I very much doubt there was a single well turned out Honda Pan European among them as depicted in the stock photograph used.

Having said all that – well done to the Police for their actions

More than 100 motorcyclists have been charged during a crackdown on “highly dangerous” behaviour.

Police have also seized 41 motorbikes, including 12 stolen vehicles, in Aberdeen during the five-month Operation Trinity.

The city-wide operation targeted motorcyclists causing a nuisance to local communities by riding their bikes in illegal and often dangerous ways.

The number of calls to police about motorcycle crime dropped by more than half, from 975 to 444, compared with the same June to November period last year.

Inspector Stuart Ord, of Northfield local policing team, said: “Residents should be reassured that this type of operation isn’t a one off and there will be no let up from our local policing teams.

“We won’t tolerate any form of anti-social behaviour and will continue to target the youths who are causing misery to others and seize their bikes under anti-social behaviour legislation.

“I would also strongly encourage local people to continue reporting these incidents and working with us to identify those involved.”
