BBC News – Motorcycle rally remembers murdered Andrew Cresswell
Family and friends of a cafe owner murdered in Kent three years ago have organised a motorcycle rally to raise awareness of his case.
Andrew Cresswell, 51, from Pluckley, was murdered in November 2008 and his body found at his cafe in Pivington Mill industrial estate.
He had been hit over the head with a weapon, but so far no-one has been charged with his murder.
A motorcycle convoy rode through Kent on Saturday to highlight the case.
‘A maverick’
Mr Cresswell lived on the premises where he ran the cafe and also had a workshop.
Three men arrested on suspicion of murder soon after the killing were later released.
Sue Harris, Mr Cresswell’s sister, who had described him as a “bit of a maverick”, said she was disappointed that nobody had been charged with his murder.
“It’s really difficult because we can’t have closure for the whole family,” she said. “It’s just really awful.”

2011 Sturgis Rally Report
Celebrating its 71st year, the South Dakota rally is only slightly older than Daytona’s annual spring party and much more fun, in my opinion. In short, if you’re a “biker” (trailer or not) versus a “motorcyclist”, skip Daytona and go to South Dakota, you’ll love it! And if you’re a photographer, you’ll probably love it even more.
This was my first experience in Sturgis, and let me tell you, it’s been a crazy week for me, shooting feature after feature after event and non-stop concerts. I shot more than 27,000 pictures on my primary DSLR camera at Sturgis, and about 6000 more on my Canon G12 pocket camera. And even then, I only got to see less than 25% of what the rally has to offer!
Having been my first trip to the rally, there’s so much I can say. I rode over 4000 miles, did two Iron Butt runs there and back plus a few side tours around the area. But after camping for 10 straight days, and riding that many miles, I needed a full day of sleep.
But for now, here’s a look at the 2011 Sturgis Rally in the Black Hills of South Dakota, as seen through the eyes of a motorcycle photographer.

Bikes in the Fast Lane – Daily Motorcycle News

Many of us dream of racing in the Dakar, and many have the talent to do so, but not the money, energy, motorcycle or passion. Plus, off road racing, like in the Dakar, can be very dangerous. But how would you race in a country unknown to you, call it an adventure race, but still be able to manage it? Especially if you want to “race” on a normal motorcycle, not a KTM Rally.
A new motorcycle rally has been organized in Tunisia. Called the Tunisia Road Rally Open link in a new window, it’s a rally run on roads, not in the sand/mud. It’s an all-in rally, meaning accommodation, race fees, support, etc. Best of all, you don’t need to take that KTM Rally motorcycle, you can do it on your Hayabusa, 125 cc, Royal-Enfield sidecar or Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
The rally is held between 22 and 30 October 2011, and you’ll be accommodated in 4 or 5 star hotels, so no tent bivouacs for you. If you’ve got followers or fans, they’ll be taken care of by the organization, and placed in the same hotels. They will be shown the tourist sites while you race to the next destination, and at night, you meet up with them. Great thing to bring your spouse and kids. Everyone wins.
