Motorcyclists flocked to Keswick on Saturday for the launch of a new biker-friendly cafe.
Paul Turner, national chairman of Motorcycle Action Group, cut the ribbon at 11am to open The Filling Station in Crosthwaite Road.
The cafe has been opened by Kieron Graham, of Carlisle, a biker who runs a motorcycle hire business.
He said: “A lot of bikers end up standing at burger vans in a lay-by or in a car park somewhere. We wanted to do something more friendly for them.”

Hundreds of motorcyclists turn out for 19th Tri-County Toy Run Sunday
Despite the cold, rainy weather, hundreds of motorcyclists turned out for the Tri-County Toy Run Sunday.
“I’m definitely riding in the weather, without a doubt,” said Tal Cookie Clayter, of Killeen, while he mingled with other bikers at the American Legion Post 133 in Temple before the fundraising event. “To ride in this weather shows the community we are serious about coming together this time of the year to help some parents out.”
This was the 19th year for the toy run, which in years with better weather, has seen up to 850 motorcyles making the trip from Temple to Ogletree Gap Park in Copperas Cove to benefit the children of Bell, Coryell and Lampasas counties.
This year 19 charities, serving about 8,000 children, will benefit from the toy run, said Jerry Caballero, committee chair for the event.

The first International Motorcycle Show (IMS) kicks off this weekend in California’s Bay Area at the San Mateo County Event Center, which also means it’s time again for the first Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show of the season. The caliber of competition entered in last year’s shows was world class, from LA Speed Shop’s Modified Harley class-winning 1947 FL with its 74 cubic-inch Knucklehead to RCC Sportbike’s Performance Category winner, a twin-turbo Suzuki B-King. Big money is up for grabs in four categories and winners are automatically entered into the 2011 AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building at Sturgis, which only sweetens the pot. The Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show will be held at the first 11 stops of the IMS, with a “battle royale” against the winners from those 11 shows slated to duke it out for twice the prize money at the final IMS stop in Daytona Beach during Bike Week.
